Step 2 - Initial Phone Call

Step 3 - Assessment Session

Expand

Following the phone call, you may then be invited to interview at one of our bases in Leeds.

The interview is really informal, we are more interested in your values and why you want to work with us, rather than your experience. As part of this session, we will also ask you to complete a short activity – this can be handwritten or done using a computer, whichever you would prefer.

The aim of the activity is to give you a really clear understanding of the expectations of the role, and for us to learn more about how you would approach supporting our service users in the best possible way.

Interview Tips

  • If you need any reasonable adjustments for the interview, let a member of the HR team know, and we'll do our best to support you

  • Prepare for the interview by reading the job description carefully and finding out a bit about the company. You can click here to find out a bit more about us

  • Try to relax - we know this can be difficult at an interview, but we will do our best to make people feel at ease

  • You'll be given the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the interview, so try to think about any questions you may have

  • Don't worry if you haven't worked in social care before. Think of skills you may have used in other work which you could transfer into a role at Leeds Autism Services

  • Think about why you want to work in social care. You can read a bit about it here and here

Step 3 - Assessment Session

Step 4 - Pre-employment Checks

Expand

If you've been successful up to this point, we'll make a conditional offer. This means you will be employed by Leeds Autism Services if your pre-employment checks are satisfactory.

We will need two satisfactory references from a previous employer or place of education.

You will need an enhanced DBS check. Don’t worry if you don’t have a DBS certificate, our HR team can help you apply for one.

Once we have seen these documents, you will be given an unconditional job offer.

Step 5 - Unconditional Offer

Expand

After successfully completing the recruitment process, you will receive your unconditional offer letter and new starter pack via email; we will work with you to arrange a start date.

Once you start work you will receive your contract of employment.

All new starters will receive a four-week induction and package of training before commencing their full duties. This will include spending time shadowing established staff and getting to know our members.
